Inner Child

My dear, forgive me for neglecting you

The way that the world taught me to.

My love, humbly I ask for your trust.

Let me be the one you reach out to if you must.

Beaten, bruised and battered

With your perfectly pure garments tattered,

You lost faith in humanity and disconnected from reality -

But I am committed to giving you the best of me.

My child, won’t you let me in so we can play for a while?

I’d do anything to see your face with a smile.

You hold dark secrets despite your mild fame.

Filled with shame, you cringe when you hear your name.

You were born of light, however.

Darkness cannot dim your shine forever.

Radient are you, kind, beautiful and intelligent.

You will always have my commitment

And whenever you feel fear,

Rush into my arms because I am always here.

Rest down your armour, you had to be strong

Because everyone you trusted kept doing you wrong

I want you to know, little black girl,

I love you more than the whole wide world.

I will teach you to meditate and we can integrate

So we can grow together in love and faith.
