This piece is full of pathos, evoking pity and sadness. Her sullen eyes stare out through bars that protect her, into a world of fear, depression, anxiety and uncertainty. A world quite different from the one she knew. Although the bars are a barrier between the two Dystopian worlds, inside she feels safer and more secure, yet despite all of that she is lonely. Instead of focusing on what she has internally, both physical resources and mentally, she is still longing for the things of the old world. Money, social interaction and all materialism of the old world before lockdown. The butterflies outside her bars signify freedom, which she has been yearning for.
