Javier Spencer
Javi is our Officer for Outreach and Administration at Team Intersect. He believes that everyone has an insightful and inspiring story to share based on their knowledge and experiences. He enjoys meeting new people and forging relationships that will result in a positive impact. He also fervently believes in gender equality, humanitarianism, and human rights - especially rights of LGBTQIA+ persons.
He is a career diplomat who presently serves as a Fellow in the Office of the President of the General Assembly of the United Nations (76th Session) and an Adviser (Sustainable Development) at the Permanent Mission of Antigua and Barbuda to the United Nations in New York. He has prepared statements and analytical notes on Gender and Climate Change, Women’s role in Peacekeeping Operations, and the importance of National Gender Policies in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Javi’s background is in International Business & Trade Policy, and hopes to use his skills-set to expand Intersect’s work.
On a lighter note, did you know that he is pretty nimble on his feet? He is a Ballroom and Latin dancer, and thoroughly enjoys playing tennis in his free time. He’s an avid reader - mostly Caribbean fiction - and perhaps a bit of a coffee and wine connoisseur. As a globe-trotter, he’s a cultural enthusiast and dabbles a bit in foreign languages.
So if you haven’t met our Outreach & Partnerships Officer yet, we’re pretty sure you will.
